Our Dog First Aid course is 3 hours and covers how to care for an unconscious dog as well as commonly occurring injuries and illnesses including choking, bleeding, fitting, poisoning and much more.

Our highly acclaimed dog first aid is run in small groups, with hands-on experience using our specially designed dog manikins and dog choking simulator. All participants will achieve a recognised Certificate and the course qualifies for verifiable CPD. The course is designed both for pet owners and those working with pets to ensure that you have the skills and confidence to provide appropriate first aid in those initial vital minutes following an accident.

On Tuesday 12th November, Southside Shopping Centre is marking Purple Tuesday by helping to raise awareness of sensory and accessibility issues.
Purple Tuesday is an annual initiative which looks to improve the customer experience for disabled people and their families year-round. Participating organisations must make a commitment to greater inclusion and accessibility, to ensure a positive experience for all visitors.  
To celebrate the date, visitors are invited to take part in Baked Bean Zumba – the organisation is an adult disability group who help those with learning disabilities maximise their lives.
The Baked Bean Charity will be running a dance show and Baked Bean Zumba on 12th November from 12pm – 12:30pm with a Baked Bean DJ performing.
To create a more inclusive shopping experience, Southside has also introduced Quiet Hours every Wednesday from 9am – 11am. Between these times, the centre and its retailers will reduce noise for those who prefer a calmer shopping environment without music, product demonstrations or mall activity.  
Southside Shopping Centre is dedicated to continuously improving inclusivity and accessibility for all visitors. Additional accessibility facilities at the centre include:  
  • Stoma-friendly facilities are available, providing a safe, clean, and helpful space for bags to be changed. The facilities follow Colostomy UK guidelines and include wall hooks, lipped shelving, full-length mirrors and the correct disposal facilities.
  • Changing Places toilet facilities for people with profound and multiple disabilities are fitted with specialist equipment such as a hoist and changing bench with enough space for up to two carers to assist those with a disability. 
  • Wheelchair hire to ensure guests with mobility issues can enjoy their visit. 
  • Accessible parking spaces are available both car parks at the centre.
  • Hidden disability lanyards can be collected from a member of the Southside Shopping Centre team.

It is a legal requirement for at least one person with a valid full 12-hour paediatric first aid certificate to be available at all times within all professional childcare establishments. This includes cover for sickness and annual leave and to accompany children on trips or excursions. Millie’s Mark requires all staff to be trained in paediatric first aid. 

First Aid for Life offer the 12-hour Full Paediatric First Aid course as convenient blended learning, with 6 hours online interactive pre-learning (particularly useful for those with English as a foreign language) followed by a 6 hour practical course.

We also offer 2-day practical courses for groups.

Choose the one day (6 hour) practical course to register as a nanny or child carer on the voluntary childcare register.

Our paediatric courses are recognised by Ofsted for the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and fulfil Childcare Registration requirements and the DfES Approved Carers Scheme. This course can be used as evidence for employees working towards the NVQ in Childcare and Education.

You will receive an HSE appointed person Emergency First Aid certificate valid for 3 years with verifiable CPD.

Santa Claus is coming to Southside Shopping Centre this Christmas, spreading festive magic in and around the centre.  
 
The Wandsworth-based shopping centre is set to introduce a Santa’s Grotto, which promises to bring joy, wonder and Christmas cheer to families and children throughout the festive season. 
 
Children can get in to the Christmas spirit at the one-of-a-kind experience which will feature crafts with the Christmas elves and the chance to decorate their own bauble, before heading to see the jolly man in red in his cosy Christmas cabin to share their wishes and snap a keepsake photo.
 
Each child will receive a special, age-appropriate gift from Santa himself and have the opportunity to tell him what they’re hoping to receive under the tree this year.
 
Santa’s Grotto will be situated of the first floor of the shopping centre and will welcome walk-ups; however, it’s recommended that bookings are made online in advance, as this magical experience is expected to be popular.

On Saturday 30th November, Wandsworth Town BID will host its annual Christmas Festival at Southside Shopping Centre, offering a day filled with festive fun. Visitors can enjoy captivating live performances throughout the centre and have a chance to win some Christmas-themed prizes. As the evening falls, guests are invited to gather at the centre’s piazza and witness the Christmas tree illuminate during a special light switch on.
